Firefighters rescue person from Dunedin letterbox

Dunedin firefighters were deployed today to help a person whose hand had become stuck in a letterbox.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand shift manager Jill Higgison said they received the call after the Forbury resident accidentally wedged their hand in a Loyalty St letterbox.

A crew from Lookout Point Fire Station got to work and freed the person shortly after 10am, she said.

There were no reports of injuries and St John did not attend.
