Some services  have been cancelled as fog affects flights in and out of Dunedin Airport today.

The airport has posted a fog alert on its website and is advising travellers to check with their arilines.

At 10.05am the airport's boards showed at least two flights were cancelled and several others were delayed.

Dunedin's not the only place affected by fog this morning. Aucklanders woke to a hazy Tuesday, prompting warnings to motorists and forcing flight delays and cancellations.

Motorists heading into the city centre were warned to expect a hazy drive in and overhead alerts on motorway signs with the warning: "Reduced visibility, take extra care".

Fog restrictions were also put in place at Auckland Airport this morning from 6.51am, with approximately 10 domestic flights delayed and four domestic flights cancelled due to the fog.
