
Set mainly in the Salinas Valley, California, John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel follows the Trasks and the Hamiltons — intertwined families destined to re-enact the fateful biblical story of Cain and Abel.
The novel has a recurring theme of Timshel — a symbol implying the freedom to choose between good and evil.
Film crews have been shooting around the region for the past few weeks, including in Oamaru’s Victorian precinct; at Hills Creek, near the Oteake Conservation Park, in the Maniototo; and now several Dunedin streets lined with heritage buildings.
Road closures in place in Dunedin tomorrow include Queens Gardens, Dowling St and Burlington St, from about 8am until noon, and Lower Stuart St (between the one ways) from noon until 6pm.
Princes St (between Jetty St and Rattray St), Liverpool St and Water St (between Princes and Bond Sts), Bond St (between Rattray and Water Sts) and Vogel St (between Queens Gardens and Water St) may also be closed.
The seven-episode limited series boasts a cast including Hollywood actors Florence Pugh, Martha Plimpton, Christopher Abbott and Irish actor Ciaran Hinds.
