It was a sleepy start for some Dunedin primary school pupils — so much so they did not even bother to get out of their pyjamas.

Yesterday, St Clair School pupils were dressed in their best sleepwear to raise money for the World Vision 40 Hour Challenge.

Challenge leaders Mckenzie Roid and Sia Stevenson, both 10, organised the event.

Mckenzie said it was amazing to see how many of her classmates took part and donated money for the cause.

‘‘Its cool that everyone’s engaged in it ... I haven’t asked my parents what they think, but I hope they’re proud.’’

To get into the spirit of things, Mckenzie elected to amp up her look by not brushing her hair.

Sia said if any of her classmates wanted to attempt to wear their pyjamas for 40 hours straight, they were free to do so.

Money raised will go towards World Vision’s work in the Solomon Islands, where they are providing training to help the local populations working in industries such as farming adapt due to climate change.
