Govt buys Cadbury site for new hospital

The first block of land for the new Dunedin hospital has been bought, with the former Cadbury site now owned by the Government.

The sale was announced this afternoon. The price was not revealed, with hospital rebuild chairman Pete Hodgson citing commercial sensitivity.

The Government could have used the Public Works Act to acquire the land, surplus to Cadbury owner Mondelez's requirements after it closed the factory down earlier this year.

However, a price was agreed between the parties, Mr Hodgson said.

What did Dunedin or NZ owe Mondelez's they have poo'ed on Dunedin and NZ, if they didn't why not? honestly sounds like dodgy deals done and smells like a rat
