Here there be dragons, fire horses

Dunedin City Council lanterns logistics manager Rebecca Rowe admires a dragon lantern in the Lan Yuan Dunedin Chinese Garden pond yesterday.

Thousands are expected to attend the city’s Chinese New Year celebrations tonight.

Ms Rowe said lots of food stalls and an extravagant lantern display at Lan Yuan and Toitū Otago Settlers Museum were planned for the celebrations.

Fireworks were scheduled for 10pm.
