Craft beer coming from a tap next to a Space Invaders arcade game sounds a little like fantasy - unless you are at Forsyth Barr Stadium today for Dunedin's second annual Craft Beer and Food Festival.

It will be an invasion of a hoppy kind - particularly from Shed 152 Brewery, which will have its Hop Invaders Hi-Score (a South Island pale ale), Level 1 (a golden ale) and Lunar Landing (a stout) craft beers out to tickle taste buds.

Brewery owners Chris Henderson (36) and Dave Gibson (34), both of Dunedin, are among more than 60 brewers from Otago to Oregon who will have their products at the stadium between noon and 7pm today.

But for the brewing duo, the day will be a major step, maybe even a giant leap, for Shed 152 because it will be their public launch.

The duo have been brewing in their garage in Kenmure Rd for the past two years.

''It's a classic old red-brick garage with bi-fold doors. We called it Shed 152 because my home is at 154 and the house next door is 150.

''There's no 152 on the map, so we decided to call it Shed 152,'' Mr Gibson said.

The duo said they had always enjoyed drinking craft beers and their grandfathers used to make home brew, so they thought: ''Why not make our own beer in our shed''.

''We were venting our creative spirit,'' Mr Gibson said.
