Item sparks evacuation of buildings

Two buildings had to be evacuated after an 'item of interest' was found in North Dunedin this morning.

Police went to a commercial property in Albany St at 11.30am, a spokesman said.

The property and the University of Otago Central Library across the road were evacuated.

A witness said five police cars attended.

Upon investigating, police found nothing suspicious and the scene had been cleared.

No further inquiries were being made.
