The University of Otago science communications student began work on the 15m tall by 12.5m wide mural in early March.
"Before I started, I felt like I really needed to release some energy out because I was learning about extinction and it’s very emotional and I needed to express that emotionally and artistically", she said.
"So painting it was really a kind of catharsis", Ms Barry said.
She was happy with how the mural came out, but she was already thinking about how she could improve for her next mural, Ms Barry said.
