Sophie Campbell (10) makes the most of wearing her pyjamas all day as part of St Leonards School’s Pyjama Day yesterday.

Principal Jo Wilson said the day aimed to bring parents (also in pyjamas) together for a breakfast with their children at the school.

"It was a fun and different way of getting the community to come together and get involved in the school."

She said it was also a good opportunity to educate pupils about the dangers of the different materials used to create pyjamas, and how easily they could catch fire around heat sources.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
