Enjoying comedian Te Radar's performance are delegates at the annual Jersey NZ conference, being held in Dunedin this week.

The distinctive fawn cows make up about 10% of the national dairy herd, and Jersey NZ, a non-profit member organisation, hopes to lift it from the third most common breed in the country to the most popular.

Breeders, farmers and dairy enthusiasts have gathered for a three-day conference. Activities include an auction, an awards dinner and keynote speeches from senior AgResearch Ltd manager Ron Pellow and NZ Young Farmers chief executive Lynda Coppersmith.

The conference was opened last night by Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull, and finishes tomorrow night.
