Just crowning around

Palmerston Primary School pupils charged across the Larnach Castle lawn during a visit yesterday as part of their study about castles.

Teacher Sandra Wallace said the new entrants class of about 20 had turned their classroom into a castle, made swords, shields, crowns and a giant dragon as part of their crusade, and topped it all off with the visit to Larnach Castle - New Zealand's only inhabited castle.

After a few sword fights - and the resulting battle cries on the front lawn, from fright rather than injury - it was time to make up with each other with cake at high tea . . . and everyone lived happily ever after.
