They were among about 50 people who participated in a beach clean-up on Saturday, collecting more than 130kg of rubbish at St Kilda from Lawyers Head to Middle Beach.
Keep Dunedin Beautiful co-ordinator Allison Wallace said the clean-up was a chance to highlight the importance of keeping the coast free of rubbish.
A notable find included a child's bike buried in the sand dunes, she said.
The event was organised by Keep Dunedin Beautiful and Otago Museum in support of the James Cameron Challenging the Deep Exhibition.
