A blasting operation on Townleys Rd in Kaikorai Valley in Dunedin caused several loud explosions today.
A fencing contractor was "blowing up" tree stumps on land in Townleys Rd, Kaikorai Valley today, Dunedin police say.
Southern District Command Centre deployment co-ordinator Senior Sergeant Brian Benn said police were notified of the "stump blasting" and since it began this morning there had been reports of the explosions shaking Dunedin houses.
The fencing contractor said the the operation was completed about 1pm and involved removing six bluegum stumps to make way for a new driveway.
