The Lindy Chicks, as they call themselves due to their fondness for Lindauer wine, have been holding a fundraising high tea for the last 12 years.
Yesterday, the four got 120 others along for high tea fun at the Green Island Civic Hall where they enjoyed delicious food and refreshments, presented by male waiters dressed in their finest.
The high tea, which had everyone dressed up, used to be a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Foundation and its pink ribbon campaign.
Over the past couple of years, they had switched to fundraising for the Otago Community Hospice, to keep the charitable cause close to home.
Last year the high tea raised $14,000.
That had brought the group’s total to $47,000 since they started hosting the event.
With a full house at the event yesterday for the silent auctions, live auctions and raffles, the $50,000 landmark would have been well and truly passed.
Lindy Chick Donna Henderson said people kept coming back to the event and had a lot of fun.
All the money was going to a great cause.
The team of waiters enjoyed serving and the grandchildren were out the back doing the dishes.
And of course, every attendee was welcomed to event with a glass of Lindauer.
