A Dunedin man has admitted stealing a donation box and pushing an elderly woman in front of a bus as he ran off.
Andrew Perehi Stevens appeared in the Dunedin District Court this morning on charges of assault and theft of the charity box allegedly containing $200-$300 from the Regent Theatre in the lower Octagon on November 8 this year.
A theatre staff member and volunteer chased Stevens and found him outside a nightclub where he was pinned on the footpath by several members of the public.
The 26-year-old also admitted stealing $124 of scotch fillet and $19 of lager from a Wellington supermarket in June and July.
Stevens was remanded in custody, where he had been for several weeks, and would be sentenced in February.
