A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged with doing an indecent act beside a female at the Dunedin Public Library.
The incident happened on October 26.
Inspector Craig Dinnessen said the man was due to appear in the Dunedin District Court today.
Earlier, a spokeswoman said police followed lines of inquiry to identify the man and had offered support to the victim, along with library staff.
Police did not respond when asked whether the incident was believed to be linked to reports of a man masturbating at the Tennis Otago courts, on the Logan Park sports fields the day after the library incident.
