Dunedin Chapter of the New Zealand Lightsaber Guild co-ordinator Cameron Lindsay (left), Jason Connolly, Warren Goodwin, Barney Connolly and Antony Snow brandish their "weapons" made famous in the American science fiction franchise.
Mr Lindsay said it was great how big the May the 4th celebration had become, as was how much everyone got into the spirit of the day each year.
The day was a good excuse for a lightsaber duel, he said.
Fans of the Star Wars franchise mark Star Wars day every May 4, because the popular phrase, "May the force be with you," used by Jedi masters in the movies, sounds very similar to "May the 4th be with you".
