The fire service was called out to a home in Mosgiel tonight, after a malfunctioning pellet fire led to heavy smoke.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said a crew attended about 7.15pm after the tenant living in the house called emergency services.
The crew shut the fire down, and ventilated the house.
There was no fire damage, he said.
