Motorcycle rider hurt after Dunedin collision

A motorcyclist was injured in Dunedin yesterday afternoon after a teenage driver apparently failed to give way.

The incident unfolded shortly before 4pm at the intersection of Wakari and Taieri Rds, near the Wakari dog park.

Constable Charlotte Davies, of Dunedin, said a 17-year-old girl driving a Toyota Starlet pulled out from Wakari Rd, failing to see the rider of the Hyosung Aquila motorcycle coming down Taieri Rd.

The rider collided with her car, sustaining a suspected knee injury before being transported by St John to Dunedin Hospital.

The driver was uninjured.

Const Davies said it was too early to determine if any charges would be laid against the young driver.
