Sam Neill is set to star in an upcoming historical action-drama following a surgeon during World War 2.

The Guinea Pig Club starts filming in New Zealand in early 2018, to be directed by Roger Donaldson (The World’s Fastest Indian) and a script written by Mike Riddell (The Insatiable Moon).

It is the true story of Dunedin-educated surgeon Archibald McIndoe — to be played by Australian actor Richard E Grant — who formed The Guinea Pig Club during World War 2, developing new plastic surgery techniques for treating pilots badly burned in combat and helping ease them back into normal life.
