The Dunedin Symphony Orchestra is visiting schools around the city to inspire the next generation of musicians.
"It’s lovely for the children to make that connection and see this is how far you could take it if you actually really practise."
Six instrumentalists from the orchestra are this week visiting 14 primary and intermediate schools to present a fun and interactive concert to introduce children to the instruments they use and the music they play.
Yesterday, they visited the Dunedin Rudolf Steiner School, in Maia.
Principal Anna Noble said while the children learnt a lot of music at school workshops, yesterday’s introduced them to a wider range of instruments.

The orchestra was hoping to instil a love of music and the arts in children.
The children were able to try a trombone, saxophone, trumpet, violin and drums.
Next week, the DSO will visit 14 schools in the Queenstown Lakes area.
