A person was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a van and a 4WD collided near the intersection of Cumberland and Dundas Sts, one of three Dunedin crashes on the night of the first Ed Sheeran concert.
The van was severely damaged in the Thursday night crash. A witness at the scene said the van ran a red light while heading south down the one-way and "T-boned" the Toyota Hilux 4WD.
The witness said three to four people in the van helped the injured person to the side of the road before fleeing on foot.
He said the police were taking statements and it appeared they were looking for the occupants of the van.
The witness said the van seemed to be travelling fast, doing between "50 to 60 kilometres [per hour]".
The occupants of the van seemed agitated, the witness said.
The witness said the occupants of the Hilux were "shaken but uninjured".

A police spokeswoman said yesterday the condition of the person taken to hospital had improved. The crash caused traffic delays but was cleared by 11pm. Police inquiries were ongoing, she said.
Police were also called to a crash in nearby George St about 9pm, after a car driven by a man hit three parked vehicles.
One person sustained minor injuries.
In the third crash, a person was trapped a car which rolled in Kenmure about 7.30pm.
Police, St John and fire crews were called to the crash and one person was initially trapped.
A St John spokeswoman said a woman with moderate injuries was transported to Dunedin Hospital.
