A plan by the craft group at the village to knit poppies for the Toitu Settlers Museum's World War 1 centennial commemoration exceeded everyone's expectations.
Four months later, they have ended up with between 400 and 500 knitted poppies.
''It was so popular that one of the ladies in the group said, 'why don't we display them here?''' Summerset activities co-ordinator Ron Hielkema said.
And so they have.
''There are three different displays,'' he said.
''One is a mock-up of a field, another is some of the poppies made into crosses, and there's a wreath made of 100 poppies.''
About 20 people, including one man, helped with the knitting.
''I tried to encourage men to knit, but I didn't end up knitting one myself, so I wasn't a very good example.''
