Armed police were again out in force outside the Dunedin District Court yesterday, with members of rival gangs making appearances.

Four Black Power gang members were bailed to separate addresses this afternoon on unlawful assembly charges.

Two appeared before Judge Paul Kellar and two others were granted registrar's adjournments.

Local chapter president Albert Victor Epere (44) and a 19-year-old associate with name suppression had their charges adjourned by a registrar for a fortnight while Michael William Kushell (30), unemployed, and Daniel Moana Ryan (45), labourer, appeared before the court.

They were remanded on bail to next Tuesday, October 14.

As conditions of bail, all are to live at separate addresses, under 24-hour curfew, with a ban on any alcohol or illicit drugs. They are not allowed to associate with each other or any ther members of their gang.

This morning, Mongrel Mob associate Tyrone Kamal Henare (19) appeared in court on an indictably-laid charge of unlawful assembly with two others in Allenby Ave.

He was remanded in custody to a pre-trial date on November 22.

Several Mongrel Mob members and their associated stood outside the courtroom, as police stood guard around the courthouse.
