Positively warm

Zac Johnston, 11, of Dunedin, makes the most of yesterday’s warm weather by walking under the cherry blossom trees at the Dunedin Botanic Garden Rhododendron Dell.

MetService data showed Dunedin’s temperature officially hit 21.8°C between 3pm and 5pm, and unofficial sources showed Mosgiel reached 22°C.

Dunedin is in for another warm week with temperatures in the high teens.

Despite the temperatures, there will be some showers today and a few more showers at the weekend, but the rest of the week will be relatively sunny.

Alexandra is also expected to reach 18°C and 19°C on Thursday and Friday, respectively, but for the rest of the Otago and Southland region, the mercury is expected to sit in the mid-teens for most of the week — accompanied by those pesky showers.
