Electricity has been restored to Dunedin following a widespread outage cut power to 11,500 customers.
The power cut at 2.30pm today hit the central city and spread as far north as Palmerston.
Aurora Energy spokesman Derek Todd said electricity was restored to all affected areas at 3.09pm.
Mr Todd said the outage had been caused by a power cut at the Halfway Bush substation that serves as a "bulk supply point" run by national grid operator Transpower.
Some 11,500 customers in Dunedin supplied by the substation were affected.
ODT readers in Kenmure, Ravensbourne, Brockville and Fairfield earlier reported being without power.
In central Dunedin, businesses in Moray Place and lower Stuart St were also left without electricity.
