Proposal accepted

A proposal for a subdivision with five residential dwellings, and a small dairy farm, as part of a heritage tourism venture on Harbour Cone, were accepted by the Dunedin City Council's finance and strategy committee yesterday.

The plan will now go for consultation in next year's annual plan hearings.

The council bought the 328ha property last year, at the insistence of peninsula residents, to prevent it from being subdivided into small rural blocks.

Requests for information under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act will be charged at $38 per half hour after the first three hours, under a new charging regime approved.

The charges were introduced after an increase in the number of requests.
