This exhibit features a photograph, by Timaru-born photographer Ann Shelton, of a rack of visual works by unknown artists, which is part of the Hocken Collections.
The Hocken, established in 1910, has archives, books, drawings, paintings, journals, maps, music, film, newspapers, photographs and posters dating back to the 17th century.
This exhibition, which runs until June 16, ranges from the pre-colonial era to the information age, and considers cultural guardianship, ``the role of collecting, exhibition making, and the library as a microcosm of the universe'', exhibition organisers said.
