The Dunedin City Council is expected to put pen to paper for Dunedin's new kerbside recycling service later this month.
Cr Andrew Noone, chairman of the council's kerbside working party, said when contacted yesterday contract negotiations were expected to be completed within the next two weeks.
"It would be even better if it was less than that, but I imagine it will take a couple of weeks just to get everything finalised."
The new service was discussed during a non-public section of Monday's full council meeting, when councillors were updated on progress and council staff given directions to complete the contract process, he said.
Details could not be divulged until the contract was signed, but no further direction by councillors was required, he said.
In December, councillors voted for a revised two-crate recycling system.
Blue crates used now will be for glass and a lidded crate will be introduced for mixed recyclables.
Collection of the crates would alternate fortnightly.
Indicative costings in December put the price at between $65 and $97 annually per household, depending on the length of the contract.
