The 20-year-old man accused of killing Dunedin woman Karin Ann Ross will remain in custody until next year after a brief appearance in court yesterday.
The man, who has interim name suppression, is accused of killing Ms Ross early on December 2.
He stood in the dock with head bowed during his appearance in the Dunedin District Court yesterday.
He stood silently, only lifting his eyes briefly before being remanded in custody by Judge Dominic Flatley.
Defence counsel Anne Stevens sought, and was granted, interim name suppression until his next appearance in the new year.
Judge Flatley also suppressed the reasons for granting name suppression.
Dunedin CIB staff arrested the 20-year-old on Wednesday and charged him with the murder of Ms Ross, a 51-year-old cleaning services worker.
He will appear in the High Court on February 2.
