About 100 walkers and runners who braved wet weather to take part in a fun run and walk in Dunedin yesterday showed "the Dunedin spirit'', organisers said.
Events and Cadbury World manager Kylie Ruwhiu-Karawana said wet conditions meant participation was down on last year's 300 entries.
She appreciated that some parents had kept their youngsters at home this year, because of the weather.
But the annual event remained a success, and "it's fun for families''.
Many of those taking part in the 10km fun run and 5km walk at the Caledonian Ground were regular participants who loved taking part every year.
They had shown the "Dunedin spirit'' and "it doesn't matter what the weather is'', she said.
The event is organised by Caversham Harriers and is part of the annual Cadbury Chocolate Carnival.
