Members of the Leith Harrier and Athletic Club took a run down memory lane on Saturday, celebrating the club’s centenary.

Club president Chris Sole said about 60 people gathered at the Caledonian Ground — the oldest runner was 93 years old, the youngest were 5 and 6.

The club started in 1925 to give give people something to do after World War 1, he said.

Pioneers of the club, including some of the first women to be accepted in 1975, spoke to members on Saturday.

"A lot of them have talked about their historical perspective, what they did, how they trained, and the events they took part in, and how athletics and running was organised way back in time," Mr Sole said.

"It was very, very special having insights from these individuals that are sharing their wisdom and their experiences."
