Trinity Catholic College’s refurbished 1937 Pompallier Arts Block is officially opened at a ceremony at the school yesterday evening.

Bishop Michael Dooley cuts the ribbon at the formal opening as chaplain Fr Vaughan Hook looks on from behind.

Te Whetu Tirana (the school’s kapa haka group) perform with Moananu Pesamino Tili playing guitar in support.

Principal Kate Nicholson said many past board chairpeople and people with a connection to the school and project had attended.

"It was a special occasion," Mrs Nicholson said.

"For them to see the finished product was lovely."
