Firefighters quickly extinguished a small fire at a house in Waikouaiti this morning.
Two fire appliances from Waikouaiti and one from Palmerston were called to a house in Stewart St at 9.03am after some burning material fell from a fire on to the floor of the house, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said.
The fire was extinguished without causing major damage and firefighters also helped to remove the smoke from the house, the spokesman said.
