Dunedin's former Southern Bar and Grill could be converted into apartments now the Dunedin City Council has granted resource consent for the project.
Additions and alterations to the former Princes St pub, which closed in April this year, would include two apartments.
Southern Capital Ltd project manager Ian McKinlay, who is also leading the development of a micro-brewery on an adjacent site, said the project was at an early stage, with the plans sent in as part of the resource consent just a "very rough concept''.
"We do have a rough plan of restoring one of the original facades,'' Mr McKinlay said.
It was not a certainty the plan would go ahead, he said.
