The tap, which draws from a freshwater spring underneath the central Dunedin brewery, was turned off on March 19, to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission.
Brewery venue manager Rosie Shanks said the team was excited to have the tap up and running again — "as is most of Dunedin, apparently".
The tap has been made contactless and a foot pedal installed to get the water flowing. The opening of the tap has also been widened, to prevent people from drinking directly from it.
She was expecting people to be lining up to use the tap from early this afternoon, when it would be open for business again.
If yesterday was any indication, it would be in demand.
"We had a few people pulling up today [Thursday], because obviously it looks like it’s operating, so we’ve had to put some cones out to say ‘it’s not quite ready’."
