Z Energy retailer Jonathan Usher said he would take over the site on July 2, and expected it to be open for business on July 9.
''We have to stock it, clean it and make sure everything works, and then we open.''
Work on the $2 million redevelopment in Main South Rd began on March 16 this year, and involved the building of a new store, the installation of new underground tanks, and the expansion of the two lane facility into four lanes.
He said the addition of more lanes would ease the congestion sometimes seen at the site, and pay-at-the-pump options would also be available.
Mr Usher, who operates Z service stations in Mosgiel, Green Island, Dunedin, Palmerston and Oamaru, said the Green Island service station would officially open on July 29 and would be attended by Z Energy senior leadership, city leaders and even Green Island School pupils who would provide musical entertainment.
He said it was an exciting time for Green Island and the Taieri community, because there were so many developments going on at the moment.
Mr Usher said walls had started going up at the new 1500sq m Moyle's Fresh Choice supermarket in Green Island, which was expected to be completed later this year, and the Sunnyvale Sports Centre was getting a $1.4 million upgrade.
Countdown is also in the process of gaining consent to build a $15 million supermarket in nearby Mosgiel.
''There's lots of good things happening in Green Island at the moment. It's very exciting.''
