Police are investigating a truck crash west of Outram yesterday.
Several sheep died instantly and others had to be put down after the trailer of an eastbound stock truck flipped on State Highway 87, about 9am, Constable Mark Durant, of Mosgiel, said.
It appeared the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle as it rounded a bend in the road 4km west of Outram, and the trailer tipped over, he said. The truck driver was not injured.
The police commercial vehicle investigation unit visited the scene.
