The annual art competition drew 170 entries from around the South Island.
Rod Eales won the $3000 first prize with her acrylic work, Taking Time, at the awards opening on Saturday night.
Judge Chris Collins, of Grays Studio, described the winning painting as "a thoughtful, deeply meditative and provocative work".
