Centenarian twin Elsie Fagg has died in Mosgiel aged 101, eight months after her sister Cora Wright.

Mrs Fagg died last week, while Mrs Wright passed away in January, aged 100.

The sisters lived at Mossbrae Healthcare in Mosgiel - Mrs Fagg since 2008 and Mrs Wright since 2013.

The sisters (nee Wells) were born and raised in Milton.

Both sisters had four children - two boys and two girls each.

Mrs Wright’s son, Alan Wright, speaking to The Star earlier this week, said he believed the chance of identical twins reaching the age of 100 was one in 750 million.

‘‘This is the end of an era for our families.’’
