Dunedin turned on a pearler of a day for the fifth such event. By 4pm, about 2800 people had passed through the gates.
The event was organised by the Acts of Kindness Charitable Trust and community groups.
Organisers Grant and Anne Hardy were ecstatic about how the day went.

About 200 people volunteered at the event, which cost around $28,000 to set up.
Entry was by gold coin.
The party was an alternative to Halloween, Mrs Hardy said.
``Halloween to us is not something that is widely celebrated in New Zealand,'' she said.
``We don't like the idea of kids trick or treating on streets.''
The next Acts of Kindness Charitable Trust event will be Christmas in the Stadium, at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Saturday, December 2.
