Police have apprehended three men in relation to a violent armed robbery at a Dunedin convenience store in June.
A staff member was kicked, punched and robbed, one member of the public kicked unconscious and another forced to the ground at gunpoint during the June 20 robbery of the Regent Night n' Day, in Regent Rd, Dunedin.
Detective Sergeant John Hedges, of the Southern police district's organised crime squad, said one suspect, a 29-year-old Dunedin man, was remanded in custody until August 17 when he appeared in the Palmerston North District Court yesterday on a charge of aggravated robbery.
A 19-year-old Dunedin man apprehended in Dunedin was expected to appear in the Dunedin District Court next week.
A third Dunedin man, sought in relation to the Regent Night n' Day rob-bery, was in custody after police located him in Palmerston North yesterday afternoon.
• A 48-year-old Dunedin man, who allegedly made a call to mental health authorities yesterday and threatened to go to the Dunedin office of Work and Income with a gun, has been charged with misuse of a telephone and threatening to kill.
It is understood the threat was then relayed by people other than police to the agency's office, where people immediately became concerned for their safety.
However, they were reassured by police the man had not left his Northeast Valley home, and he was later apprehended there by police without incident.
He was referred to the emergency psychiatric service at Dunedin Hospital.
