Last night’s race relations event hosted by the Dunedin Multicultural Council (DMCC) Men with Mana Cooking was for multicultural men to come together to cook and have conversations about men’s mental and physical health as well as reducing family violence.

DMCC president Mr Selvanesan said the event promoted safety and empowerment of family using the e tū whanau values, aroha, whanaungatanga, whakapapa, mana manaaki, kōrero awhi and tikanga.

He said the council wanted to dispel the notion that men could not cook.

A potato and chickpea curry, tomato chutney, mixed vegetable rice, juice and Indian tea were on the menu.
