Trenz visits lift profile of museum

The Otago Museum hosted several familiarisation tours of the institution and its activities during the recent Trenz tourism conference in Dunedin.

Several "positive media stories" had since resulted from the tours, museum director Dr Ian Griffin said in a recent report to the Otago Museum Trust Board.

More than 1000 delegates from throughout the country and abroad attended the four-day Trenz event, held last month and organised by the Tourism Industry Aotearoa.

Museum team members also held one-on-one meetings with 50 tourism buyers to discuss the wide range of tourism products it offered.

The products were on offer to independent travellers, and through group bookings  for "more exclusive travellers", Dr Griffin said.

The conference had  enabled the museum to build its relationship with Enterprise Dunedin.

It was now more able to include the museum in activities promoted to the media, about "what is on in Dunedin", he  said.
