The university’s first woman vice-chancellor left the school late last month to become vice-chancellor at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia.
Prof Helen Nicholson was named acting vice-chancellor, for this transitional period, late last year.
A university spokesman said the vice-chancellor appointment advisory committee was working through the candidate shortlisting process, and an update was expected to be provided to the wider university community later this month.
More details would be provided at that time, the spokesman said.
Chancellor Royden Somerville is leading the advisory committee, which includes the pro-chancellor, the council Ngai Tahu representative, a professional staff representative, the student president and council representative, three other lay council members, four senate members elected by the senate, one for each teaching division and an academic representative of the university campuses outside Dunedin.
