OUSA student support advocate Beth Tua’i said the focus of the event was to teach students how to take care of themselves as they returned to study in the winter months.
Cups of soup and hot drinks were available for students and Fire and Emergency New Zealand displayed a variety of hazards that affect people during winter, such as faulty heaters.
The Salvation Army ran a stall selling equipment to prepare students for the cold, she said. Jackets and scarves were available, alongside indoor activities such as books and board games.
