A female pedestrian was hit by a car in Mornington this afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services were called to a bus stop opposite the Mornington Tavern on Mailer St about 12.55pm.

The woman was treated by St John paramedics for minor injuries at the scene.

I had this pointed out to me recently: any other type of injury event you'll see 'person hits someone with a hammer, or stabs them with a knife, etc.' Often you'll see this with people driving cars if they hit something other then a human. Eg: driver hits horse. But as soon as a driver hits another person, all of a sudden it is 'car' hits person. Like the car had a mind of its own and there was nothing the driver could do. This woman in Mornington wasn't hit by a car, she was driven into by someone. Considering the area shown in the photo, the driver should have been prepared for pedestrians. To be honest, having a 50Km zone through a busy shopping area is asking for trouble. I'd really like to see Sweden's 'Vision Zero' adopted here. ( http://www.visionzeroinitiative.com/ )
