Naylor Love has completed replacing balustrades at the Otago Museum atrium.

The old balustrades had been compliant with the building code, but the museum had decided to make replacements to improve health and safety, museum director Dr Ian Griffin said in a recent report.

The new balustrades met latest building code requirements, Dr Griffin said.

Some changes had also been made at the museum’s Tuhura science centre, including extending wood panelling at the bottom of the stairs to a slide in the facility, to "stop kids bumping their heads on the handrail", he said.
