Barker extends mayoral lead; no changes to councillors

Dunedin mayor-elect Sophie Barker extended her margin over second-placed candidate Andrew Simms in final election results.

The difference ended up at 898 votes, edging up from a margin of 726 in the preliminary count released on Sunday.

There were no changes to the 14 councillors elected, other than the order in which they were placed.

The highest-polling councillor was Mr Simms, followed by Lee Vandervis, former mayor Jules Radich, Marie Laufiso, John Chambers, Russell Lund, Brent Weatherall, Steve Walker, Cherry Lucas, Mickey Treadwell, Mandy Mayhem, Benedict Ong, Christine Garey and Doug Hall.

There were 43,310 voting papers, including special votes.
